The Irish R.M. refers to a series of books by the Anglo-Irish novelists Somerville and Ross, and the television comedy-drama series based on them. They are No. of episodes: 18 (list of episodes). Written at the turn of the last century, Some Experiences of an Irish R.M. is a curious thing. The authors were cousins, women of the Anglo-Irish Protestant Ascendancy who nevertheless write from the point of view of the eponymous (male) Resident Magistrate/5.

By the same authors as "French Leave" and "An Enthusiast" this book is a collection of stories first published at the turn of the century and were considered some of the funniest prose in the English language.
